Spikenard Essential Oil

Spikenard has a heavy, sweet-woody, spicy aroma, similar to Valerian oil. Distilled from the dried and crushed rhizome and roots Spikenard is cleansing and calming.

It is a tender aromatic herb with a pungent rhizome root. Native to the mountainous regions of northern India; also China and Japan, however, the oil is mainly distilled in the USA and Europe. Closely related to the common Valerian and Indian Valerian with which it shares many qualities. There are also several other species, notably the Chinese Spikenard which is also used to produce Essential Oil, not to be confused with Spike Lavender!
