With the cost of living increasing and wages being stretched tight we are happy to share some tips and tricks which we use at home to help our precious oils last longer and go further.
It's true what they say, using less will certainly save you some pennies and a lot of the time we use more oil than we need to when treating ourselves or others. Essential oils are very powerful and strong and just a drop or two can make a huge difference, so check your blending amounts! Did you know 2 drops of lavender on your pillow is enough to help you get a peaceful night's sleep, whereas 4 or more can have the opposite effect and keep you awake! Check out our blending guide to make sure you’re using the right amounts.
After getting everything you can out of your favourite bottle of essential oil remove the stopper and add a carrier oil, such as sunflower, replace the lid and shake gently to create a lovely face oil with your florals or massage oil with your warmer oils.
Not much left in the bottle? – another great tip is to swish your bottle out in the bath after adding some bath foam to help it disperse. A treat you may not normally give to yourself.
buying a larger sized bottle of oil that you use regularly is often much more cost effective, and it lasts longer too! Next time you need to re-stock think about which oils you buy most often and scale them up, you don’t need to do them all at the same time either.
Base noted oils are heavier, so their fragrance lingers longer. Make sure you add one to your diffuser oil blend so you don’t need to top-up your diffuser quite so often!
Don’t forget to store your oils in a cool place out of direct sunlight to make sure the quality of the oil isn’t compromised. They should also be in a dark glass bottle and the lid firmly replaced after use to prevent oxidisation.
I do hope you have enjoyed my blog! You will find our other blogs here where you can be introduced to lots more essential oils, aromatherapy & wellbeing blogs.
Do you have any hints and tips to share – let us know we would love to try them out.
