Distilled from the unpeeled, dried root/rhizome, Ginger is a pale amber liquid with a warm, slightly green, woody, spicy aroma.
Ginger is a perennial herb 1 meter high with a thick, spreading, pungent root, from where the oil is distilled. It bears white or yellow flowers on a spike direct from the root. Native to Southern Asia and cultivated all over the tropics. Several other varieties of this species according to the location are all used to produce oils with slight variations in their properties. The oleoresin produced is used as a component in fragrances, foods, and alcoholic and soft drinks.
