A dark yellow or amber viscous liquid with a warm, sweet, dry-herbaceous musky scent.
A small sticky shrub up to 3 meters high with lance-shaped leaves which are white and furry on the underside, and fragrant white flowers. The Ladanifer is a species of flowering plant in the family Cistaceae. It is native to the western Mediterranean region. Common names include gum rockrose, laudanum, labdanum and brown-eyed rockrose. It is an extremely aggressive plant that has taken over much of the former farmland and grasslands in the mountain regions of central Spain and much of southern Portugal.
