Virgin Prunus Carrier Oil

Latin Name: Prunus domestica (Virgin Prunus Seed Extract)
Extraction: Cold-pressing plum stone kernels
Synonyms: Virgin prunus oil, Plum Seed Oil

The Ente plum is a French-origin product. Originally from the southwest of France, it is mainly used to make Agen prunes, which are still referred to as “Aquitaine black gold” in France.

Prunus Domestica Seed Oil is the common prune kernel oil obtained by cold pressing the almond of the kernel of the dehydrated plum. The kernels of Virgin prunus are dried and shelled to collect almonds. Then, these almonds are shelled and cold-pressed. The obtained oil is finally settled and filtered.

Properties & Uses

An exciting new oil that is naturally rich in tocopherols with excellent antioxidant properties. Non-greasy it penetrates the skin quickly leaving the skin feeling silky and soft. With softening, nourishing, moisturising, and emollient properties this oil is especially beneficial for mature, sensitive and dry skin. Virgin Prunus Oil nourishes and protects the skin thanks to its high tocopherols and oleic acid content.

With a unique fragrance, this oil is recommended for the formulation of fragrance-free products. Virgin Prunus is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog pores, which can irritate sensitive skin.

Prunus domestica seed oil is composed of around 70% of oleic acid and 20% of linoleic acid (Ω 6). The total content of polyunsaturated fatty acid is around 90%. Its fatty acid composition is close to the one of fruit kernel oils (apricot, almond, peach).

Prunus Domestica seed oil also contains 0.5 % unsaponifiable matter and has high tocopherol (Vitamin E) content, thus showing high oxidative stability.
