Tagetes is a thick liquid that solidifies on exposure to air and light, with a bitter-green, heady odour. Tagetes is distilled from fresh flowers. Tagetes are soothing and cleansing.
It is a strongly scented annual herb about 30cm high with bright orange, daisy-like flowers and soft green oval leaves. Native to South America and Mexico. Now grows wild in Africa, Europe, Asia and North America. The oil is mainly produced in South Africa France, Argentina and Egypt. There are several different types of species that share very similar characteristics and are used to produce essential oils.
