Turmeric Essential Oil

Latin Name: Curcuma longa
Plant Family: Zingiberaceae
Extraction: Distillation of the rhizome

A yellow to orange liquid with a faint blue fluorescence that holds a strong fresh woody aroma. 

It is a large tuberous root and leaves that extend upward from erect thick stems that grow to around 1m high. The plant holds a deep orange core and dull yellow leaves. It is native to southern Asia and extensively cultivated in India, China, Indonesia, Jamacia and Haiti. Closely related to Ginger but it is not to be confused with the Indian Turmeric or American yellow root.
